About the team:

To provide support across the ASX Company Secretariat function in responding to the ASIC Inquiry into ASX. This may be in the form of assisting with responding to requests arising as part of the ASIC Inquiry, uplifting existing and implementing new ways of working, and assisting with the day-to-day business as usual activities of the ASX Company Secretariat function. A 12-month contract role, with a possibility of becoming permanent.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting on all aspects of requests that are made by the ASIC Inquiry Secretariat that involve the ASX Group Company Secretariat Team. This may include roles in planning, co-ordinating and overseeing the work to respond, as well as actively contributing to the activities that need to be performed. For example, collating and reviewing documents and developing artefacts as required to support ASX’s response to queries.

  • Attending out-of-cycle meetings of the ASX Board, CS Boards and Board Committees as requested to prepare minutes of the meeting,

  • Interfacing and working closely with the teams across the ASX Group that are involved in appearing before and submitting documents to the ASIC Inquiry.

  • Assisting with identifying, planning, executing and embedding of initiatives to deliver ongoing uplift in the ASX Group's approach to governance in a practical in a business-focused manner.

  • Provide support on day-to-day Company Secretariat tasks as required to ensure that the business-as-usual activities are delivered to a high quality and standard while the ASIC Inquiry is ongoing. In the upcoming period, that may particularly include support for the ASX AGM, financial results, corporate reporting, and annual planning.

  • Providing legal and governance advice as otherwise required to support the Company Secretarial team.

What you will bring:

Must have:

  • A relevant bachelor degree

  • 5+ years of experience in senior Company Secretarial roles in ASX-listed environments.

  • Hold a current practising certificate and have experience practising as a lawyer in a corporate practice area

  • An understanding of financial services regulations as they apply to corporate governance and the roles and responsibilities of company Boards

  • Experience in coaching and mentor junior members of Company Secretarial teams

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at senior levels.

  • Ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements and translate them into plain English

  • Be self-motivated and capable of working autonomously

  • Qualifications from the Governance Institute of Australia
