Are you passionate about supporting culturally safe healthcare in remote communities? Join us as a Medical Dhäwu Dhäwu (MDD) Project Officer and help deliver group medical sessions that empower Yolŋu community members living with or at risk of chronic conditions. In this rewarding part-time, fixed term role, you’ll work alongside our dedicated Public Health, Allied Health, and Clinical teams, supporting logistics, documentation, resource development, and training across our East Arnhem Land communities. Competitive salary of $101,226 - $121,354 per annum pro rata + 12% superannuation
Ability to Salary Package up to $15,900pa plus a further $2,650pa on Meals and Entertainment
6 Weeks annual leave pro rata + 17.5% Leave Loading
12 Days Personal and 5 Days Compassionate Leave pro rata

About Miwatj

Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the barriers impacting Yolngu people’s health outcomes in East Arnhem Land and a genuine commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination. They will bring experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and thrive in collaborative environments, engaging confidently with both internal teams and external partners. Excellent oral communication skills, a personable approach to relationship building, and the ability to adapt across various settings are essential. A current Ochre Card, criminal history check, and NDIS clearance—or the willingness to obtain these—are also required.
