We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced planning professional to join our passionate and forward-thinking Statutory Planning team at Glenorchy City Council.
This full-time role is ideally suited to a capable Senior Planning Officer ready to take the lead on more complex planning matters. However, we also welcome applications from suitably qualified Planning Officer s looking to further develop their expertise in a supportive environment. The Senior Planning Officer is a new position created to manage more complex planning tasks within the team.

About the role:
This newly created position will give you the opportunity to:
- lead and assess a wide range of planning applications
- apply your expertise in statutory planning and report writing
- work collaboratively to deliver high-quality planning outcomes
- as the Senior Planning Officer, assist and mentor other team members as needed
- as a Planning Officer, build your career through exposure to diverse planning matters
What you’ll bring to the role:
- tertiary qualification in land use planning or a related field (e.g. environmental design, architecture, or geography)
- sound understanding of Tasmania’s planning system and statutory planning processes.
- demonstrated experience in handling complex planning matters
- confidence working with a range of stakeholders to get great outcomes for our community
Position details:
- full-time (76 hours fortnight).
- 9-day fortnight because life happens outside of work too.

Salary: $85,228.45 - $110,000.00
