Alligator Energy is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – Approvals and Sustainability to lead the company’s environmental, regulatory performance functions across its growing project portfolio, the Samphire, Big Lake, and Alligator Rivers projects.
This role is critical to ensuring the company maintains its licence to operate and builds enduring relationships with regulators. The General Manager will lead the planning, delivery and ongoing management of environmental assessments, regulatory approvals, and ESG strategy implementation, particularly for Alligators flagship Samphire Project.
Based in Adelaide, the role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams and regular travel to project sites. The successful candidate will bring deep experience in navigating complex regulatory approvals, driving outcomes, and regular engagement with the Board.
Key Responsibilities
Lead internal cross-functional working groups for the Samphire Project Mining Lease application and oversee execution of existing compliance monitoring programs across all projects.
Oversight of all environmental and regulatory approval processes across all other projects.
Develop and implement Alligator Energy’s ESG strategy and sustainability reporting, aligning with international standards and investor expectations.
Guide the integration of sustainability principles across the business including water, energy, biodiversity, climate risk, and rehabilitation planning.
Act as the company’s key contact and representative in key stakeholder meetings, including but not limited to Government, Native Title / Traditional Owner groups across all projects.
Management of the preparation of submissions, regulatory documents, and sustainability disclosures, including Board and investor presentations.
Contribute to strategic planning and feasibility assessments of the Samphire Project in addition to other projects of interest to the Company.
Alongside the tenement manager, oversight of the tenement register ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.
Mentor, manage internal teams and external contractors to drive a high-performance culture and continuous improvement.
Communicate clearly and persuasively across all levels of the business to build awareness, engagement, and alignment on environmental matters.
Key Selection Criteria
Strong working knowledge of State (South Australia) and Federal regulatory systems, particularly regarding mining lease applications / operations (uranium preferred), native title, heritage, and environmental legislation.
Demonstrated success in managing relationships and outcome-driven negotiations.
Understanding of ESG reporting frameworks and sustainability performance metrics in line with the incremental growth of the Company.
Demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets and deliver projects within defined timelines and cost frameworks.
Experience managing consultants, multidisciplinary teams, preparing and delivering board-level presentations and operational reporting.
Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, sustainability, law, planning, or a related discipline.
