About the role:
Reporting to the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager, this role supports the multi-disciplinary ophthalmic team in delivering patient-centred care in accordance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements. You will provide nursing care under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, assist with ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic investigations, and contribute to efficient clinic flow and patient coordination within our specialised eye care setting
Duties for the role will include:
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in Ophthalmology Outpatient care along with routine ophthalmic testing and procedures for ophthalmology patients,
- Under the direction of a registered nurse make decisions and take initiative to plan and complete nursing care tasks within their scope of practice,
- Deliver patient-centred nursing care responding to direction of registered nurses,
- Support ophthalmic procedures and investigations,
- Assist with clinic flow and patient coordination
About you:
- Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
- In order to administer medicines, must have completed a Board-approved program of study which includes an administration of medicines unit,
- Demonstrated competence in fundamental ophthalmology outpatient nursing tasks in accordance with the relevant standards,
- Previous experience in ophthalmology or outpatient care highly regarded,
- Strong communication and teamwork skills,
- Commitment to safe, respectful, and culturally responsive care,
- Competence in basic computer programs
