About the opportunityThe purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to deliver timely holistic client care according to scope of practice, within a primary health care model in a Prisoner health setting as prescribed by policy, clinical standards, clinical guidelines and protocols, workplace instructions and the Corrective Services Act 2006.
Prisoner Health Services operates between the Townsville Men's Correctional Centre (TCC) and Townsville Women's Correctional Centre (TWCC). The clinical nurse is responsible for providing advanced primary health care to the patients within the Prisoner setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, health education, chronic disease case management, responding to emergencies and working within a multidisciplinary team to provide equitable and safe care as well as project and portfolio management and mentoring of students and staff.

* Salary range: $4138.10 to $4431.10 p.f. (NG6-1)
* 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading

Requirements:
* Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
* Queensland Corrective Services Criminal History Check: Applicants are advised that this position works in a Queensland Corrective Services facility and requires employees and volunteers to have a current Queensland Corrective Services criminal history clearance as per the Corrective Services Act 2006.
* Highly Desirable: Tertiary qualification relevant to the position or working towards same, Primary Health Care and/or Prisoner Health experience.
* Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts with varying shift lengths up to 12 hours in duration (Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health and Department of Education) Certified Agreement (EB11) 2022 Clause19.2 (d)) as rostered in the unit roster.
* On call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
* Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
* This is a VPD risk role.
