The role of the Resource Officer is to assist in the provision of restorative justice processes within Youth Justice. This will include responsibility for resources that will support and assist the provision of restorative justice processes, the monitoring of restorative process outcomes and conducting conferences as an approved convenor under the Youth Justice Act (1992).Please refer to the role profile for further information on how to apply.

The team: Youth Justice provides early intervention, statutory Youth Justice, and detention services to ensure that Young People are held accountable for their offending behaviour. We help support them to become responsible members of the community.
Key Responsibilities
As Resource Officer, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Assist in the provision of restorative justice processes within Youth Justice through identifying and engaging with relevant programs and services as required; and support the development, monitoring and administration of restorative justice processes.
- Work effectively within a statutory environment to facilitate restorative justice processes with young people who have committed offences, victims and other relevant parties; and complete all tasks consistent with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
- Ensure that written and oral information and advice to courts, agencies and other stakeholders is in accordance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, to achieve positive outcomes for victims, young people who have committed offences, their families and the community.
- Identify, liaise and maintain strong working relationships with relevant external stakeholders.
- Pro-actively work to ensure the use of culturally appropriate, collaborative and evidence-based restorative justice processes that align with Youth Justice strategic direction.
- Actively participate in a range of continuing professional development activities to continuously improve your ability to contribute to organisational goals, including training, supervision and accreditation.
- Contribute to a departmental culture that ensures sensitive and effective communication with people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as an appreciation of cultural protocols and an awareness of the impacts of historical policies and practices.
