Executive Director

Queensland Government
Brisbane Full-day Full-time

Description:

This is a career-defining opportunity for a strategic and influential leader to work at the centre of government, directly supporting the Director-General in delivering on the department’s priorities for Queenslanders.

As Executive Director, you will lead the Office of the Director-General and its supporting functions, providing high-level advice, foresight and coordination across a broad and dynamic portfolio. You will oversee the coordination of Cabinet, parliamentary and executive processes, ensuring the Director-General and departmental leadership are equipped with timely, accurate and strategic advice. You will lead a small, high-performing team that manages the flow of information across the portfolio, maintains critical relationships with central agencies and the Minister's Office, and drives delivery of cross-departmental initiatives. Balancing strategic oversight with operational precision, you will shape the rhythm and discipline of the department's executive operations, ensuring issues are well-managed, opportunities are seized early, and the organisation remains responsive, accountable and aligned to its broader government priorities.

Success in this role requires exceptional gravitas, intellectual curiosity and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence. You will be a trusted advisor and conduit between the Director-General, senior executives, and the Minister's Office, managing sensitive issues, anticipating emerging risks and driving alignment across department and government priorities. Your written and verbal communication will be of the highest calibre, able to distil complex matters into clear, compelling and strategic advice.

You will bring a leadership presence that inspires confidence and fosters collaboration. With a track record of building strong senior relationships and leading with influence, you will thrive on working across boundaries and enabling outcomes that advance the department's strategic objectives.

If you are motivated by purpose, energised by challenge, and skilled at leading through change, this role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact at the highest levels of public administration.
