Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified community members to join the Wagga Wagga Airport Special Purpose Committee.This Committee has been established to provide structured oversight, expert advice and community engagement in relation to governance, lease arrangements, capital works planning and the strategic direction of the Wagga Wagga City Airport.
About The Committee
The Committee will play a key advisory role in ensuring the Airport continues to deliver safe, reliable and community-focused aviation services that support regional connectivity, health, and aeromedical transfers, Defence operations, education and training, tourism and broader business and economic development across the region.
The Objectives Of The Committee Include
- Providing advice to Council on strategic options for the Airport, including lease arrangements, capital investment, partnership opportunities and long-term planning.
- Supporting Council’s work to develop an updated Airport Strategic Plan.
- Ensuring that community and regional development considerations remain central to the Airport’s future.
Council is seeking community members with demonstrated expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Aviation, transport or logistics operations
- Infrastructure planning or project delivery
- Regional development, economic strategy or tourism
- Business, leadership or governance
- Community engagement or stakeholder collaboration
- Education and training related to aviation
- Health or community services sectors that contribute to the Airport’s broader regional role

Assessment of applications will be conducted in accordance with Council’s Appointment of organisation community and individual citizen members to Council Committees Policy (POL 117) and reported to Council for consideration and appointment of Committee members by the end of 2025.
This is a voluntary non-remunerated position with up to five community members with expertise in aviation, infrastructure, regional development, or community leadership available.
