Description:
You will be responsible for leading a team who is responsible for preparation of matters for the tribunal and managing a caseload of complex files within the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). You will oversee the provision of expert advice and guidance to ensure prescribed deadlines and benchmarks are achieved withing the team, and a high-quality service is provided to clients and the tribunal.As Deputy Senior Registrar, you may be required to work across the Civil, Administrative and Disciplinary (CAD) Division or the Human Rights Division (HuRD).
- Manage, mentor and coach the team in the delivery of a professional service to QCAT judicial officers and tribunal decision-makers, providing expert technical and file management advice, establishing a work environment that supports staff, builds their capability and values personal development.
- Provide guidance to the team on technical systems, information database content and protocols for dealing with parties to a proceeding.
- Manage highly complex files from initiating proceedings to final hearing.
- Monitor and improve workflow, including allocating files to the team, ensuring applications are processed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures for the relevant jurisdictions.
- Research and prepare briefing notes, ministerial correspondence (including investigating and actioning complaints), submissions, memoranda and other administrative requirements as directed.
- Provide information to parties or members of the public on the role of the tribunal, its processes, procedures or legislative provisions.
- Manage, monitor and maintain accurate records to provide reporting and analysis on statistical data and trends.
- Represent QCAT at forums, workshops and meetings as required.
- Support QCAT stakeholders to facilitate and identify shared interests, exchange knowledge and ideas on operational and strategic issues, aiming to enhance the core capabilities in the delivery of frontline service provision.
- Foster a work environment focused on continuous improvement through identifying and developing business, process and technological improvements.
- Perform duties in accordance with the position's Human Resources Delegation of Authority.
- Contribute to the delivery of QCAT's ongoing services and success by undertaking, as needed, assignments and projects aligned with current capabilities or that provide a development opportunity.
