Your Role
As a Team Leader, you will work within the International Student Programs team to support the application process for overseas students who want to study at a Queensland state school. Overseas students are provided with the support and encouragement they need to realise their potential in a welcoming, inclusive and accessible learning environment.
The position reports to the Manager, Future Students, International Student Programs, and is located in Brisbane. You will be part of a large and diverse work team.
Responsibilities Include
- Coordinate and assist with special projects when required.
- Provide high level, accurate advice, take responsibility for accurate completion of work and seek assistance where required.
- Positively contribute to business improvement processes in the work unit.
- In consultation with and under the guidance of management, identify client needs and develop and implement initiatives designed to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
- Ensure compliance with all Commonwealth and State Acts relating to the entry and completion of educational programs by international students and with policies and guidelines of the department in relation to such matters.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of systems, policies and procedures to support effective and efficient practices across the international student programs.
- Oversee the day to day function, performance and staff of the team to ensure successful business outcomes across all programs and services provided.
- Supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
- Manage the use of a range of system applications at an advanced level associated with international student programs to ensure overall quality client services.
- Prepare reports using data extracted from the international student management system and other data sources for senior management and other internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Effectively and confidentially manage international student program related enquiries, either in person or by telephone, and respond to complaints and implement remedial action where practicable.
