Description:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced leading hand to come on board to oversee the Parks and Gardens Team at Gwydir Shire Council.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and effective execution of the Parks and Gardens teams daily operations. Demonstrated experience in a relevant horticulture environment and supervising personnel is essential.

The Parks and Gardens team is responsible for providing horticulture services such as mowing, weeding, pruning, mulching, weed spraying and maintaining sports fields.

The successful candidate will work with the outdoor staff to find operational efficiencies and make recommendations to management on how to improve practices, respond to customer service requests and ensure the safety of staff, community and contractors.

This is a permanent full-time position working a 9-day fortnight. The Parks and Gardens Leading Hand is classified as Grade 6, entry in Council's competency-based salary system.
