At Toorak College, our Boarding House team plays an integral role in supporting each of our international and local Boarders in their academic development and personal growth.
Roles And Responsibilities
The primary function of the Boarding House Assistant position is to support both the personal and academic journeys of all Boarding students.
Regular Tasks May Include
- Supervision of Boarders to facilitate a seamless transition between the Day School and Boarding House, including the assistance with establishing effective study routines, personal care and time management.
- Providing medical assistance in accordance with the School’s policies and requirements.
- Maintaining strong professional relationships with all Boarding students, taking a positive interest in each as an individual.
- Maintaining discipline in the Boarding house to ensure the safety of students at all times.
- Motivating students to try new things and make the most of their Boarding experience.
- Collaborating with staff to provide a positive and “home” environment for Boarders.
- Sleepover duty during overnight shifts.
- Running excursions and in-house activities during the weekends, including transporting students in the school minibus.
About You
You may have gained experience supporting adolescent girls in a residential environment or education, welfare, sporting, or health/science setting. Alternatively, you may be working towards a qualification in education, psychology, youth work, or counselling.
You Will Possess
- Cultural awareness and respect to ensure your success in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate well to all staff, Boarders and parents.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A First Aid Level 1 and Working With Children Check (Employee).
- Full drivers licence and comfort in driving the school mini bus is essential.
