An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Public Administration Group, Cabinet and Governance Branch as Strategic Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.The Cabinet and Governance Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on public sector administration and workforce matters and the institutions of government, including the Office of the Governor, Parliament, Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission, the Victorian Public Sector Commission and the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel.
The Strategic Adviser, Cabinet and Governance Branch contributes to delivering the department's strategic priorities and whole-of-government initiatives. It leads proactive stakeholder engagement, supports strategic planning, and manages risks, issues, and emerging priorities on behalf of the Executive Director and executives.
Working closely with the executive director and directors, the Strategic Adviser role coordinates complex workstreams, prepares and supports high-quality briefings, and ensures effective flow of information and decision-making. Operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the position requires strong judgement, advanced communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
About You
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Demonstrated project delivery skills and ability to translate strategies into programs or projects that enable achievement of outcomes required.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and ability to deliver tangible business outcomes as a result of critically evaluating problems from multiple perspectives and delivering effective solutions.
- Highly developed stakeholder management skills and ability to identifiy and respond to stakeholder's underlying needs and to use understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.
- Sound political and organisational context with ability to ensure solutions or actions adhere to values, ethics, responsibilities, legal obligations and limits that apply to an organisation.
- Ability to be flexibile and adaptable and to adapt systems and processes quickly to changed priorities and situations.
