Junior Designer

Description:

As a Junior Designer at ZIMMERMANN, you will support the research, concept development, and refinement of design details across our Swim and Resort collections. Collaborating closely with the Senior Designers and Creative Director, you will be involved in every stage of the design process—from initial concept to final execution—ensuring each piece is both beautifully crafted and commercially considered.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong personal style, exceptional design instincts expressed through illustrations, and a genuine passion for luxury fashion. Your creativity will help translate the ZIMMERMANN vision into compelling, meticulously executed designs that resonate with our audience.

• Support the Creative Director and Senior Designers in developing seasonal Swim & Resort concepts and story ideas.

• Research and contribute to design elements, fabrics, trims, prints, and embroidery in line with the brand vision.

• Assist in creating design boards, illustrations, and artworks to support seasonal material development.

• Participate in design meetings across all stages of the seasonal process, including fabric selection, silhouette development, and range reviews.

• Prepare accurate technical sketches, spec sheets, and illustrations for pattern makers and sample production.

• Support sample management and ensure all prototypes and press/sales samples meet the Creative Director’s standards.

• Maintain organized design boards, fabrics, and workspaces to support the team.

• Assist in handover to Production and ensure design intent is accurately executed at bulk stage.

• Contribute to timely completion of tasks in line with Critical Path deadlines and seasonal schedules.

• A fashion design degree from an Australian or international institution and have achieved outstanding results in both course work and in external competitions
• Minimum of 2 years' experience with a designer brand
• Understanding and connection with the Zimmermann brand aesthetic
• Advanced understanding of garment construction, fit and finishes
• Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign skills
• Excellent technical drawing ability
