Qantas Freight is the integrated end-to-end air freight solution provider with the Qantas Group operating both domestically and around the world. Fuelled by the ever-increasing growth in eCommerce, the air freight business has changed fundamentally over the past 5 with both significant opportunities as well as challenges and critical strategic decisions for management. Qantas Freight’s remit includes the domestic freight operation-both PAX belly and domestic freighters, international freighters and Freight terminal operations domestic and overseas. The Freight business currently utilises approximately 18 dedicated freighter aircraft and sells the belly space for all Qantas passenger flights.
This role is responsible to contribute significantly to the development of Qantas Freight’s strategy and commercial growth, leveraging a strategic toolkit and understanding of international trade and aviation markets. This key role will require thought leadership and collaboration with Sr Managers / Heads Of / EMs across the business to identify, develop and validate strategic priorities (from both a cost and revenue perspective), and strong written and verbal communication skills to make the case for Freight’s key initiatives.
The Commercial and Strategy Manager with work with experienced colleagues and subject-matter experts in the development of business cases and strategic analyses to drive key decisions within the business. This role will be given a hands-on opportunity to work across Freight on a diverse range of projects, gaining exposure to a broad stakeholder group spanning cross functionally across both operations, network planning, finance, and sales, as well as in person experience of the freight business through offsite activities, including an opportunity for frontline terminal exposure.
You’ll have –
- 8+ years experience in Commercial / Strategic planning
- Tertiary qualification in Business or Commercial preferred
- Project Management experience
- Strong commercial acumen
- Senior stakeholder management ability
- Proven ability to identify and execute business opportunities
