Shellharbour City Council is looking for casual cleaners to keep our community spaces spotless, safe and welcoming for everyone.


Position Overview


As a Cleaner, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our city looking its best. You’ll be responsible for a variety of cleaning activities that contribute to the operation and maintenance of Council’s assets. This is an opportunity to work with a great team and make a positive impact on our community.


Your day-to-day tasks may include using cleaning equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring that public areas are safe and secure. You’ll also have the chance to communicate with community members, responding to their needs and feedback. Plus, there’s plenty of variety in the job, no two days are the same!


Position Title: Cleaners
Reports to : Team Coordinator City Presentation
Employment Type : Casual
Location: The Service Depot, Oak Flats
Salary: $36.71 per hour (including casual loading) + 12% super. Penalties are paid in addition for Saturday/Sunday work and public holidays.


What we are looking for


If you’re someone who enjoys working independently but also thrives in a team environment, we want to hear from you! Here’s what you’ll need to be successful in this role:



  • A Certificate II in Cleaning Operations or equivalent.
  • Experience in cleaning and a strong understanding of safe chemical use.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work well with others.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • A current NSW Driver’s License - Class C.
  • A proactive attitude toward workplace safety and quality standards.

We’re looking for individuals who are physically capable of performing cleaning tasks and who are eager to contribute to our team.
