Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Location: Melbourne

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience: 7–15 years

About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with hands-on experience in Agile and waterfall delivery environments, in the utilities sector. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to translate requirements into clear user stories, process flows, and system enhancements. This role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements in Utilities
  • Translate business needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and functional specifications.
  • Preparation of business case by collecting inputs from all stakeholders
  • Presentation of business case to Investment board.
  • Work as part of an Agile delivery squad—collaborating with Product Owners, Developers, Testers, and SMEs.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and user story prioritization.
  • Support end-to-end delivery: requirement analysis → solution design → testing coordination → production rollout.
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure solutions are aligned with regulatory, operational, and business requirements.
  • Conduct impact assessments, gap analysis, system/data validation, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate UAT execution, test case validation, and signoffs with business users.
  • Assist with process automation, risk reduction, workflow standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare documentation: BRDs, FRDs, user manuals, SOPs, training materials, business reports, etc.
  • Communicate status, risks, and dependencies across stakeholders and leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Business Analyst experience in utilities business or Financial Markets.

• Hands-on experience working in Waterfall as well as Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

• Ability to write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows (BPMN, UML).

• A strong data mindset—comfortable with SQL, data validation, reconciliation logic, or workflow tools.

• Experience facilitating workshops, requirement gathering, sprint ceremonies, and stakeholder presentations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

Nice-To-Have

• Exposure to Utilities industry.

• Knowledge of JIRA & Confluence.
