About This Position
Do you enjoy working with young people and making a difference in their lives?
This role is all about being present in our community's skate parks - building positive relationships with young people and creating safe, inclusive spaces where they can have fun, develop skills and feel supported.
You will assist in planning and delivering weekly Skate Jam programs, as well as skate park events such as clinics and competitions. You will also use a range of City resources - including the Skate Park trailers, Nomad Wandering Youth Space and City facilities - to engage local young people in public spaces.
The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
What We Are Looking For
To be successful, you must demonstrate
- Knowledge of youth issues and the youth sector
- Experience delivering youth programs
- Strong skills engaging young people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to develop rapport and build trust
- Good organisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a small supportive team and use initiative in the field
- Experience providing information, support and referrals
- Completion of or progression towards Certificate IV in Youth Work / Community Services and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Working with Children check
- First Aid qualification
- Current driver's licence
- National Police clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
