Description:
As a Harmony Rigger, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining character and prop rigs and assets within the Harmony software environment. You will work in collaboration with the animation team to create intuitive and responsive rigs that meet our client’s needs. Your role is crucial in ensuring that characters and props are articulated and ready for animation, adhering to the technical and creative requirements of our productions.Areas of Accountability
- Develop and maintain character and prop rigs using Toon Boom Harmony software, ensuring functionality and adherence to animation requirements.
- Apply the principles of animation and thorough understanding of anatomy, physics and the way things move to create character gait, walk, and body language.
- Rig characters with controls for movement, facial expressions, and other necessary features.
- Work closely with animators, designers, and technical artists to understand project requirements and implement rigging solutions.
- Collaborate with animation and FX teams to ensure rigs meet production needs and integrate seamlessly into scenes.
- Conduct tests and reviews of rigs to ensure functionality and usability for animators.
- Address feedback from animators and supervisors to refine rigs and improve performance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to rigging and collaborate with technical teams for solutions.
- Communicate effectively with production teams to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Provide status updates and participate in team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Interpret the Animation Directors notes and deliver a variety of Rigging options for final approval as efficiently as possible.
- Relevant qualification in Animation, VFX, graphic design or a related field.
- Proficient in rigging techniques within design software Toon Boom Harmony including IK/FK setups, deformers, and constraints.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills. Able to clearly communicate thinking visually and verbally.
- Strong design skills and an excellent portfolio demonstrating an eye for detail with an excellent understanding of anatomy and musculature, movement and timing, familiarity with mechanics and movement of active forms.
- Basic understanding of animation principles to be able to test rigs
- Creative problem solver who likes technical challenges and creating complex systems.
- Ability to constructively receive and apply feedback effectively.

- Strong time management and organisational skills, working effectively to deadlines.
