Description:

Our client is seeking a hands-on and strategic Chief People Officer who can build the foundational HR capability while guiding the long-term people strategy of a fast-growing, evolving business. This is a unique chance to take ownership of the People & Culture function within an organisation that values loyalty, care, and high standards, delivering meaningful impact from day one.

Initially, you'll be hands on to continue the establishment of the core HR systems, processes and frameworks. As the function matures, your role will increasingly shift toward strategic leadership, workforce development, shaping culture and capability uplift.Key responsibilities include:

· Build and execute a People & Culture strategy aligned with business growth

· Develop HR systems, processes and team capability from the ground up

· Lead, mentor, and uplift an HR team requiring development

· Oversee culture, engagement, workforce planning, and organisational development

· Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll operations

· Set strategic direction for Learning & Development (delivery managed by others)

· Lead change management initiatives across a dynamic, scaling organisation

· Support national expansion, including growth on the east coast and potential new locations

· Contribute as part of the executive leadership group to shape the organisation's future.

Requirements:

The successful candidate is both strategic and operational, someone who enjoys building, problem-solving, and navigating an evolving environment.Key attributes include:

· A people-first leadership philosophy

· A commercial, practical mindset that understands resource constraints

· Ability to create simple, clear, enabling HR processes

· Experience supporting HR in a predominantly blue-collar workforce

· A passion for up-skilling and developing loyal, capable staff

· Strong knowledge of awards, EBAs and industrial relations

· Proven experience in change management

· Exposure to offshoring business support functions would be advantageous

· Understanding of family business dynamics within a corporate environment

· Experience in multi-site or national operations.
