Our client is seeking a Junior Data Analyst with experience in the health domain to support a range of health data initiatives.
You’ll assist with locating, extracting, and managing clinical data from hospital systems. This includes working with structured datasets, unstructured data such as PDFs, and supporting data linkage tasks. The role offers hands-on experience across data extraction, documentation, quality processes, and working with real-world health datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Help identify clinical data across hospital databases and electronic medical record systems.
- Support the extraction of structured data using SQL and other relevant tools.
- Assist with extracting and preparing unstructured data from PDFs.
- Maintain secure data storage and follow naming and organisational conventions.
- Contribute to documentation of data processes, quality checks, and methods.
- Assist in matching records across different systems using common identifiers.
- Work alongside hospital staff and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth data processes.
- Keep track of incoming data, identify gaps, and organise datasets using information maps.
- Support data-related tasks and projects as needed.
What You’ll Bring Essential
- Tertiary qualification in health informatics, data science, statistics, epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
- Experience SQL and Python
- Interest in health data, data quality, and data processes.
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Willingness to travel to hospital sites across Victoria when required.
- Exposure to health datasets, EMRs, or hospital environments.
- Familiarity with data linkage concepts or health workflow processes.
- Any experience coordinating small tasks or supporting project activities.
