Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is a vibrant and collaborative community committed to preparing future educators through innovative teaching, impactful research and strong engagement with schools and communities. With a focus on student-centred learning and contemporary curriculum design, the Faculty delivers high-quality Initial Teacher Education programs across multiple disciplines and modes.
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Education (HSIE and Humanities) to play a key leadership role in a growing curriculum area. This is a dual -focused position requiring expertise in Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) and History, alongside strong experience in primary Initial Teacher Education. The successful candidate will contribute primarily to the Bachelor of Education (Primary) while also supporting related Humanities offerings within the Faculty as part of the Bachelor of Arts double degree.
This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum, mentor colleagues, work collaboratively within an enthusiastic and expanding team, and make a meaningful contribution to teaching and scholarship in primary HSIE education at a national level.

- Delivering high-quality, student-centred teaching in Primary HSIE and Humanities, with a particular emphasis on History, across face to face, blended and online learning environments
What you will bring
You are an experienced and collegial academic with a strong commitment to primary teacher education, curriculum excellence and scholarly impact in HSIE and Humanities. You thrive in collaborative environments, bring enthusiasm to teaching and mentoring, and are motivated to contribute to the Faculty’s teaching and research profile at a national level.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
A PhD or Professional Doctorate in History, Human Society and Its Environment or a closely related Humanities discipline, together with an accredited Initial Teacher Education qualification Demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching within Initial Teacher Education, including curriculum design and delivery using contemporary educational technologies across blended and online environments Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, particularly Primary HSIE and History An established research and /or teaching scholarship profile appropriate to Level C, including publications and supervision of Honours and HDR students Proven leadership experience in teaching, research and professional practice, including mentoring colleagues and contributing to collaborative academic teams While not essential, experience or willingness to be involved in Professional Experience partnerships is desirableWhy Southern Cross University

Your opportunity is:
Full-time, continuing (permanent) Located at either Gold Coast, QLD 4225, Lismore, NSW 2480, or Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities. ACAD Level C. The base salary ranges from $139,568 - $160,473 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation.
