Full-Time | Fixed term (12 months) Professional HEO6 | $92,287 - $98,398 Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View Position DescriptionFlinders University is bringing its 2030 Sustainability Strategy to life through practical action in climate response, biodiversity enhancement and regenerative campus design. We are seeking a collaborative Sustainability Coordinator (Regenerative Campus) to coordinate hands-on projects that protect and regenerate our campus landscapes and engage the Flinders community in meaningful stewardship. This is not your typical desk job.
Your “office” is Bedford Park Campus, 156 hectares of built and natural landscapes (88 hectares of natural bushland), ecological corridors and living laboratories. Every day, your work will make a meaningful impact on the people, places and ecosystems that define Flinders.

About the role
As the Sustainability Coordinator (Regenerative Campus), you will coordinate projects and initiatives that enhance biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and support regenerative campus food systems. You will also play a central role in engaging and empowering our campus community, staff, students and external partners to participate in hands-on sustainability action to support a wide range of projects and outcomes, including:
Build the evidence base: establish and continually improve the campus biodiversity baseline through assessment, monitoring, reporting, and regenerative design integration (incl. no net loss / net gain where relevant). Restore habitat on campus: plan and deliver habitat restoration and native planting projects with strong student, academic, volunteer, and community participation. Grow regenerative food systems: support healthy local food security via community gardens, student growing projects, seasonal planting cycles, community markets, and food-sharing initiatives. Drive climate resilience: coordinate sustainability governance and climate risk assessment workshops and support practical adaptation actions (e.g., bushfire, extreme heat, etc). Engage partnerships: investigate credible offsite carbon offset opportunities and partnerships, and deliver engagement/outreach (workshops, comms, orientation activities, events, hands-on projects).For a more comprehensive list of Key Position Responsibilities, please view the Position Description
About You
You are a proactive, relationship-driven sustainability professional who thrives in hands-on, outdoor environments. You enjoy translating ideas into action and bringing people together to do practical work that improves landscapes, biodiversity and wellbeing. Your experience includes:
Coordinating biodiversity, conservation, permaculture or regenerative landscape projects (including delivery to timelines and budgets). Knowledge of native flora (and fauna), restoration methods and biodiversity monitoring practices. Coordinating workshops, events and engagement activities, with strong interpersonal communication skills. Developing clear written materials (e.g., plans, simple standards, communications content and engagement resources). Working independently while managing competing deadlines.An understanding of (or experience in) cultural land management and/or nature-based wellbeing programs.
The ideal candidate will also hold appropriate tertiary qualification environmental management, landscape ecology, climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture, horticulture, permaculture or sustainability with subsequent relevant experience, or possess an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
