The Security, Counter Terrorism and Forensic Services Command (SCTFSC) encompasses specialist units with unique capabilities that keep the people, places, and communities of Queensland safe through excellence in security, counter terrorism and specialist forensic policing services.The purpose of the Forensic Services Group is to provide timely high quality and efficient forensic services in collaboration with community, government and non government partners to make Queensland safer. This role will directly and indirectly liaise with coroners and Domestic and Family Violence Death Review Unit.
Coronial Support Unit plays a vital role in ensuring that Coroners have effective investigations conducted on their behalf and members of the Queensland Police Service are provided with sufficient support and information to perform these roles and functions when responding to and investigating a reportable death under the Coroners Act 2003.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Support the QPS Strategic Plan through the provision of intelligence services to Command and Regions in the assessment of problems places, cases and issues.
- Provide analytical advice and recommendations to QPS officers in relation to specific investigations and operations.
- Plan and prepare intelligence assessments in relation to crime and other community safety matters utilising accepted intelligence processes.
- Establish and maintain effective networks within the QPS and with external partners and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective work practices.
Role Requirements
- The successful applicant/s may be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
- Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
- Awareness and observance of psychosocial hazards and risks to self and all other stakeholders is an expectation of this role.
- This position involves regular exposure to the bodies of deceased persons of all ages, often in all states of disfigurement, decomposition and/or disruption.
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
- The successful applicant/s must undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Police Service in line with current policy.
