You will provide technical support and actively participate in the planning, organisation and conduct of research into the development of new fish species for aquaculture production across multiple production systems. Just imagine what you could achieve with us.

As a Technical Officer (Aquaculture), you will

  • Provide technical support and actively participate in the planning, organisation and conduct of research into the development of new fish species for aquaculture production across multiple production systems.
  • Undertake all operational aspects of fish husbandry and spawning, including feeding, live feed production, systems maintenance, fish health and reproductive


status monitoring, disease treatment, and collection of broodstock.

  • Collect and effectively manage data in appropriate software following quality assurance processes.
  • Collate, manipulate and quantitatively analyse datasets.
  • Contribute to the interpretation of research results.
  • Contribute to the publication of fisheries research, including science journal papers and reports, within identified timeframes.


What we are looking for (qualifications, registrations, experience)?

There are some qualifications that we see as essential. You must possess

  • Minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science or equivalent.
  • For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework. The


Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland residents.

You must also have relevant technical and aquaculture experience in commercial production and/or research settings. This role may involve out of hours work, travel, weekend work and working on site at commercial farms during trials. You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problem -solving skills.
