The University of Canberra Council and the ACT Government are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who wish to nominate for one of three available positions on University Council, two of which commence in July 2026 and one in October 2026.

Applications are encouraged from individuals with high-level expertise and experience in finance and accountancy, combined with corporate experience. Knowledge and interest in the higher education sector is desirable, as is significant governance experience commensurate with a major national organisation with an annual gross operating revenue of $447m, more than 17,500 students, 1,175 staff, and world leading researchers.

Applicants will have an appreciation of the University of Canberra’s values, its ten-year decadal strategy Connected 2023 – 2032, its core activities of teaching and research, its independence and commitment to academic freedom, and the needs of the community.

The appointment will be made by the ACT Chief Minister for a term of three years. Externally appointed members of the University of Canberra Council receive remuneration.
