As we continue our rapid expansion across the Asia-Pacific region to support the demands of our customers, we're seeking an exceptional Data Center Operations Manager to join our Melbourne (MEL) cluster operations and drive operational excellence at scale.As part of our infrastructure management team, you'll be a proven technology-focused leader with a passion for devising innovative concepts and strategies that will take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll collaborate with, lead, and mentor diverse teams of skilled data center technicians with a variety of capabilities, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring uptime for critical infrastructure supporting AWS customers globally.
This position will be responsible for data center operations with a relentless focus on continuous improvement to ensure we continue to deliver the highest level of service to our customers. Every day you will innovate and help us solve exciting, challenging, and complex problems—managing complex technical escalations, implementing innovative solutions that set new standards for data center operations across the region, and driving for operational excellence in all areas of your role.
Key job responsibilities
- Managing and developing teams of efficient Data Center Technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.
- Help build and bring online new Data Centers.
- Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. We believe there is nothing we cannot improve.
- Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
- Liaising with internal teams & management groups.
- Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics of all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive improvements.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies that include incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of people management experience- Experience delivering complex projects with prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product
- Experience with data mining and data analysis
- Experience in project management including communication, planning, and documentation
- Experience with system management tools and client/server environments
- Experience in oral and written communication
- High degree of organization and detail-orientation.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in change/incident management.
- Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects.
- High literacy in security and customer data protection.
- Experience and knowledge of cabling best practices.- 3+ years of direct people management leading a team of consultants experience
- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
