Financial Services is a branch of Corporate Services responsible for providing budget management, financial accounting, systems, and funding services to our clients in the delivery of their accountabilities.

Our role is to ensure the department has a sound financial management framework that achieves compliance with statutory and accountability requirements and other financial standards.

This role involves strategic leadership in financial accounting, management accounting, budget coordination and financial operations.

As Director, Financial Services, You Will Specifically

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Provide strategic leadership, direction and advice to support senior executives on complex and diverse financial management issues consistent with the department's business objectives.
• Provide leadership and direction in the development and formulation of long term and short-term financial forecasts, resource planning, strategic financial plans, and capital management plans.
• Provide leadership and direction in the presentation and finalisation of the Annual Financial Statements and the CFO Statement of Assurance.
• Provide leadership and direction on the internal control framework through self-assessments to ensure the department is maintaining a sound governance framework.
• Lead the annual budget development and forward estimates process including the monitoring and implementation of key budgetary elements within the budget timeframe.
• Set budgetary guidelines and timetables.
• Ensure delivery of the financial management requirements of the annual State Budget for the preparation of the Service Delivery Statement, Annual Report, briefing notes to the Minister in relation to the Cabinet Budget Review Committee and the Estimates Committee hearing.
• Lead the high-quality review and analysis of complex issues, proposals, submissions and other material to ensure that financial and related issues impacting on the position's area(s) of responsibility are appropriately identified and considered.
• Provide effective and informative financial performance management reports and dashboards to Board and Executive Management. This includes the provision of financial performance analysis, forecasting, cashflowing, financial trends and key performance indicator analysis.
• Lead the development of effective financial cost models to manage and monitor efficient utilisation of resources in an activity-based funding environment.
• Establish and maintain strategic, collaborative and effective working relationships within the department and across government agencies and other external bodies. Represent Financial Services in high level negotiations and discussions as required
• Lead multi-disciplinary projects of a substantial and complex nature.
