Your new role
We are looking for a safety-minded operator to join our Darwin Yard. This is an exciting opportunity to both develop and grow within the role and the business.
Reporting to the Yard Manager, you will safely operate machinery to help with the efficient processing of scrap metal. Full training will be provided for the successful applicants!
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating heavy machinery (Material Handler with grab or Excavator with Shear attachment and Forklift)
- Good problem-solving skills and an outstanding eye for detail
- Good planning and prioritising skills
- Strong focus on safety
- Ensure customers receive a high level of service.
- Other duties i.e. manual handling, unloading & weighing of material
About you:
- Attention to detail - This role will be working with metals, requiring the position to be able to identify and separate, and process material
- Good written and verbal communication skills, numeracy skills, and basic computer literacy.
- Previous experience in customer service and/or similar roles.
- Excellent attendance, reliability, and ability to work in a Team environment, but also unsupervised
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a machine operator or similar position (e.g. material handler, excavator/shear)
