About The Opportunity

Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Performance Accountant to help delivery long-term financial sustainability for our region. In this key role, you'll be responsible for maintaining the Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) 10-Year Forecast, and supporting the Financial Operations Manager in implementing strategic financial initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a values-driven Local Government setting, where your work directly informs decision-making and helps shape the financial future of our growing community.

About You

You are a strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset and practical experience in financial planning and modelling. In this role, your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Maintaining and developing the QTC 10-Year Long-Term Forecast Model.
  • Preparing budgeted financial statements and scenario-based financial modelling.
  • Supporting departments with budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
  • Conducting financial analysis for National Competition Policy and full cost pricing.
  • Providing strategic financial advice to improve sustainability and efficiency.
  • Promoting financial literacy and delivering financial guidance to staff.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements in financial operations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business/Accounting/Commerce or similar.
  • High-level financial modelling and Excel skills.
  • Experience in interpreting financial systems to provide strategic financial advice.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with National Competition Policy financial arrangements.
  • Familiarity with QTC’s 10-Year Long-Term Financial Forecasting Model.
  • Experience and understanding of long-term sustainability planning in a Local Government environment.
