We are seeking an experienced full-time Orchard Hand to work on the Mango farm and play a crucial role in various aspects of farm activities. The farm consists of 55,000 mango-producing trees across 152 hectares and is situated approximately 15 minutes from Humpty Doo, NT.The Role
As the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the overall health and productivity of the orchard. Your primary responsibilities will include actively operating machinery such as slashers, herbicide applicators, and sprayers to ensure optimal tree growth and health. You will work closely with the Farm Manager to develop and implement comprehensive plans for fertilising, replanting, and pruning activities, ensuring these tasks are aligned with seasonal cycles and orchard management goals.
In addition to operational tasks, you will collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on various farm equipment and machinery. This includes troubleshooting and repairing irrigation systems to maintain efficient water delivery across the orchard. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all activities, such as fertiliser applications, pest control measures, and equipment maintenance logs, is essential. These records should be easily accessible and up-to-date to facilitate data analysis and compliance.
The role requires strict adherence to internal controls, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines. You will be responsible for completing regular administrative duties, including documenting fertiliser and chemical use, mapping orchard plots, and updating operational logs in a timely and precise manner.
Operational duties also encompass the safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, agricultural implements, and specialised machinery. This includes conducting pre-operational inspections to ensure equipment safety, cleaning machinery after use to prevent contamination or damage, and maintaining a tidy and organised workspace to support efficient operations.
Additionally, you may be assigned general gardening duties, such as weed control, soil preparation, and minor landscaping tasks, to support overall orchard upkeep.
Candidates should possess experience in agricultural machinery operation, a good understanding of orchard management practices, and strong organisational skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment is vital, along with a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.

The Ideal Candidate We are seeking candidates with knowledge and experience regarding horticulture, who have a mature approach to both work and life, and who are passionate about the agricultural industry and possess the following:
- A current Driver's licence is essential
- Ability and willingness to learn and adopt new methods and techniques in the workplace
- Current First Aid Certificate, Forklift & Chemical Certificate is desirable
- Hands-on approach to work
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- An understanding of basic machinery and property infrastructure maintenance
- Able to work cooperatively with minimal supervision
- The ability to prioritise a varied work program and complete tasks within agreed timelines
- Analytical approach to duties
