This flexible, part-time role (2 days per week) is ideal for a finance professional who thrives on responsibility and is passionate about using their skills to make a meaningful impact.

About Us

Umbo is a social enterprise created to solve a huge problem – the lack of speech and occupational therapy across Australia. At Umbo, we believe that regardless of where you live, no one should be forced to wait 18 months to access vital health care.

As a social enterprise, Umbo is committed to reinvesting 50% of its profit back into the company to reach more vulnerable communities.

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Leadership Team and Accounts Clerk, the Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic insights that guide organisational planning and performance. This is a hands-on role that also involves system and process improvement to enhance financial visibility and control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO on the management of day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, and forecasting

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making

  • Collaborate with the CEO and Leadership Team on financial strategy and planning

  • Oversee the work of the Accounts Clerk and support month-end and year-end processes

  • Develop and improve financial systems, policies, and procedures

About You:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CA preferred)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally in a not-for-profit or health services environment

  • Proficiency in Xero and financial systems integration (e.g., Salesforce to Xero)

  • Strong understanding of payroll systems, tax compliance (BAS, PAYG), and budgeting

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organisational skills

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across teams

Why Join Umbo?

  • Be part of a supportive and values-driven organisation

  • Meaningful work that positively impacts people’s lives

  • Join a growing team with a positive team culture

  • Opportunity to influence strategic financial direction
