Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for a reliable and motivated Weekday and weekend Cook to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our Tonky Logan Hostel, Townsville, QLD. What We Offer:
• Competitive Pay & Benefits : $59,520 - $64,877 per annum (pro-rated for part-time). You’ll receive 15.4% superannuation, and generous leave entitlements to make sure you’re well looked after.
• Generous shift penalties apply for work after hours, weekends and public holidays. 50% penalty rates apply for Saturday and 100% penalty rates apply for Sunday.

Key Responsibilities of a Cook:
• Prepare meals in accordance with AHL’s set menus, Food Safety Standards Australia and other relevant legislation.
• Stock management – rotate, receive and monitor food and kitchen supplies.
• Assist with ordering.
• Ensure the kitchen is cleaned to standard.
• Prepare and clean the dining rooms for residents.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.
What We’re Looking for in a Cook:
• Available to work weekdays (weekday Cook) 10.30am – 07.00pm (75 hours per fortnight) and Weekends (Weekend cook) 07:00am – 19:00pm (30 hours per fortnight)
• Experience in meal preparation in an industry-based environment, ensuring the safe production of quality food without compromise to Food Safety Standards Australia.
• Experience in commercial cookery, and the ability to manage stock rotation while ensuring timely service and hygiene of cooking equipment.
• Good understanding of cleanliness and health standards required whilst preparing food at the workstation.
Prior to engagement, you are required to:
• Provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
• Undergo, obtain and maintain a Satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
• Meet Fitness for Duty requirements.
• Hold and maintain QLD Working with Children Check.
