The role of Payroll Officer will be located in Hendon, South Australia. Position Summary:The Payroll Officer with HR supporting function, will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across Australia and New Zealand, using outsourced services via ADP Payline (Australia) and iPayroll (New Zealand). This role also supports a range of HR functions, ensuring compliance with local employment laws and contributing to a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:Payroll Administration (Australia & New Zealand):

Coordinate end-to-end payroll processing through ADP (Australia) and iPayroll (New Zealand).

Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Liaise with ADP and iPayroll to resolve discrepancies, manage system updates, and ensure compliance with tax, superannuation, and KiwiSaver obligations.

Review and validate payroll reports and reconciliations.

Process new hires, terminations, and changes in employment conditions in both systems.

Ensure timely submission of payroll data and approvals in line with local pay cycles.

Maintain employee records and HRIS data integrity across both countries.

Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including employment contracts and induction.

Support recruitment administration including job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.

Coordinate training and development logistics.

Assist with HR policy implementation and compliance tracking.

Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, leave, and HR policies.
Australia (ADP):
-
Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards (NES), and Modern Awards, including minimum wage, leave entitlements, and working hours.

Adhere to the Fair Work Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023, which introduced stricter employer obligations around pay transparency, contract terms, and employee classification.

Ensure timely and accurate Superannuation Guarantee contributions and reporting.

Comply with Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2 requirements for real-time payroll data submission to the ATO.

Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure readiness for audits or Fair Work inspections.

Ensure compliance with the Employment Relations Act 2000, Holidays Act 2003, and Minimum Wage Act 1983.

Accurately calculate and report KiwiSaver contributions and deductions.

Manage Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax obligations and ensure timely filing with Inland Revenue (IR).

Ensure correct accrual and payment of public holidays, annual leave, sick leave, and parental leave entitlements.

Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and ensure iPayroll configurations reflect current legal requirements.

Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payroll and HR documentation.

Monitor legislative updates and work with ADP and iPayroll to implement necessary changes.

Educate managers and staff on payroll-related compliance issues and best practices.

Essential:
-
Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably with ADP and/or iPayroll.

Strong understanding of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation and HR practices.

High attention to detail and confidentiality.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Certificate IV or Diploma in Payroll, HR, or Business Administration.

Experience in a dual payroll/HR role across multiple jurisdictions.

Familiarity with modern awards, enterprise agreements, and NZ Holidays Act.
