Position Overview:

To support our large-scale farming operations, we are seeking a qualified and experienced

Diesel Motor Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of farm machinery and heavy vehicles.

We are currently seeking a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will

be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and testing heavy vehicles, as well as a wide range of

farm machinery and associated systems. As a farm-based mechanic, you will play a vital role in

ensuring the continuous operation of our plant and equipment, helping to minimise downtime

and support the overall productivity of the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

· Diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, maintain and test diesel/petrol & gas-powered vehicles including tractors, trucks, buses, bulldozers, automobiles, earthmoving equipment, agricultural machinery and stationary engines (e.g. generators, compressors and pumps).

· Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check the following; charging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition, and ignition timing, fuel injection systems and speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, wheel balance and alignment, air conditioning, hydraulic systems and air conditioning systems along with any other functions that are specific to our line of business.

· Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of diesel/petrol and gas engines that are used to power attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapes, buckets, and augers etc.

· Use oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welding, hand fitting or machining processes to repair or replace faulty parts

· Carry out field servicing of machinery on a day-to-day basis.

· Carry out all work in accordance with the company policy or as directed by the Farm Manager

· Account for all spare parts used/not used on jobs by entering them on the job cards that are allocated to each job by the Farm Manger.

· Complete any paperwork, associated with each job, timely (at the conclusion of each job) and accurately and submit it in accordance with standard procedures.

· Ensure the condition and presentation of the workshop area is maintained to the Farm’s standards and benches and work areas are cleaned weekly.

· Ensure the condition and presentation of the service vehicle is maintained to the Farm’s standards and the vehicle is cleaned inside and out a minimum of once per fortnight

· Report to the Farm Manager at the end of each working day with a progress report and status of each job assigned that day

· Comply with the organization’s occupational health, safety and welfare policies and procedures.

· Follow systems, processes and requirements set out in the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) and the Environmental Health Management System (EHMS)

· Demonstrate understanding of the WHS topic of focus at each weekly toolbox meeting

· Attend regular toolbox meetings.

· Carry out any other duties as directed by the Farm Manager.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.

  • More than 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Proven skills in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of heavy vehicles and equipment.

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
