Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting the management accountant with a wide range of financial tasks, including overseeing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), payroll processing, cashflow reporting, and monthly sales commissions. Additionally, the Accountant will play an essential role in post-event P&L reporting and assisting with month-end activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day operations of AP and AR, ensuring that all invoices are processed in a timely and accurate manner, and that any discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Payroll Processing: Manage and process the fortnightly payroll, ensuring that all employee payments are made accurately and on time, while complying with all relevant regulations.
- Sales Commission Reporting: Calculate and report monthly sales commissions, ensuring accuracy and alignment with sales targets and agreements.
- Cashflow Reporting: Assist in the preparation of cashflow reports, ensuring that accurate projections and variances are presented to senior management.
- Post-Event P&L Reporting: Prepare and analyse post-event Profit and Loss (P&L) reports to assess the financial success of events and provide insights for future planning.
- Month-End Support: Assist the management accountant with month-end procedures, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and the preparation of month-end reports.
- Financial Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal controls, assisting in the implementation of best practices in accounting processes.
- Ad-Hoc Duties: Assist with various ad-hoc tasks and financial projects as required by the management accountant.
Key Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (or an overseas equivalent recognised under Australian standards).
- A minimum of 5 years' full-time, post-qualification experience in a professional accounting role, ideally within a similar industry.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, including AP, AR, payroll, and cashflow management.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel (Advanced level).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with different teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Part-qualified or studying towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
