For a leading organisation in the financial services sector, we are seeking a Cash Operations Team Leader to join their Sydney-based head office team. This is a high-impact role, ideal for someone with a strong background in cash operations and loan processing, who thrives in fast-paced, detail-driven environments.

About the Role

This role will take ownership of leading a dedicated cash operations team responsible for the end-to-end processing of daily financial transactions for retail loan customers.

Responsibilities span across loan contract maintenance, cash payments and receipts, reconciliations, and operational reporting.

In addition to managing daily operations, the role plays a key part in continuous improvement initiatives, supporting system upgrades, process standardisation, and change management efforts. You'll also act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on internal loan management platforms and collaborate across multiple business units, including finance, treasury, and customer service teams.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Operations

  • Oversee and ensure timely processing of incoming and outgoing payments
  • Monitor daily transaction activity and escalate any processing issues
  • Provide hands-on support for operational tasks as required
  • Manage and develop team members to enhance performance and minimise process issues
  • Work closely with internal service teams to ensure seamless coordination

Process & Systems

  • Act as SME for key loan systems (Infolease10 and FIS/Ambit Asset Finance)
  • Contribute to the testing, rollout, and refinement of new loan products and process updates
  • Drive standardisation across cash handling and loan processing activities
  • Support change projects and system enhancements from a process and policy perspective

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Prior experience in retail banking or financial services , ideally in an operational leadership capacity
  • Solid understanding of high-volume transaction environments , including cashflow and loan processing
  • Hands-on, proactive leader with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • High attention to detail and accountability for operational results
  • Strong risk and control mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and process gaps
  • Customer-centric approach, with an understanding of how cash operations affect service delivery
  • Familiarity with retail lending industry is advantageous
  • Experience with FIS / Ambit Asset Finance systems is a strong advantage
  • Proven track record in supporting process improvement and participating in change initiatives
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across various departments
