A Legacy Leadership Opportunity with Community Impact

For over five decades, Brophy Family Services has been a vital presence in South West Victoria, evolving from a residential service for troubled boys into a contemporary, multi-site, values-led organisation providing over 45 programs to more than 4,000 individuals annually .

With a team of over 170 staff , Brophy delivers an integrated suite of services across youth mental health, family support, housing, family violence, and early intervention , operating throughout Warrnambool, Hamilton, Portland , and surrounding communities. We are a financially sound , strategically mature , and culturally strong organisation governed by a committed community-based Board.

Brophy is defined by its 'Advantaged Thinking' approach - a practice framework grounded in recognising and fostering the strengths, aspirations, and potential of every individual we work with. We are proud to be an organisation where place-based leadership, innovation, and evidence-informed practice are embedded in all that we do.

The Opportunity

We are now seeking an outstanding leader to step into the role of Chief Executive Officer , continuing Brophy's legacy while driving our future direction. This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly regarded organisation at a time of stability, credibility, and readiness for growth.

This role will suit a leader who is motivated by genuine community impact, committed to systemic change, and capable of guiding strategic and operational excellence at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and organisational oversight, ensuring alignment with Brophy's mission, values, and long-term goals.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with the Board, staff, community, government, partners, and funding bodies.
  • Champion and evolve Brophy's Advantaged Thinking framework in local and national contexts.
  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven culture.
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship, governance, risk management, and compliance.
  • Actively contribute to sector leadership, advocacy, and place-based policy development.

About You

You are a seasoned and values-aligned executive leader with a demonstrated track record in leading complex, purpose-driven organisations, ideally in the community services, health, or broader not-for-profit sector.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in strategic leadership, change management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of regional and place-based service delivery and the role of community anchor organisations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • A commitment to social justice, strengths-based practice, and inclusive leadership.
  • Experience working with a Board in a governance framework.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social sciences, health, community services, business, or related fields.

Why Brophy?

  • Lead a high-impact organisation with a long-standing reputation for excellence.
  • Be based in a vibrant regional community offering beachside living, short commutes, and a high quality of life.
  • Shape the next era of service innovation in youth, family, and mental health support.
  • Influence state and national conversations on community wellbeing and strengths-based practice.

In return, you will be offered a competitive remuneration package and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in regional communities across South West Victoria, empowering families, and young people.
