Wellways Australia is currently recruiting for Family Peer Cadets to join our new Family Carer-led Centres across Western Victoria. A key recommendation from the Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health is that this service is designed and delivered by people with a personal lived experience of carer giving.

Are you looking to play an important role in ensuring that carers and their families receive valuable and supportive care? Do you have an interest in studying the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work? If yes, please read on!

Successful Family Peer Cadets will benefit from the fantastic opportunity Wellways Australia has to offer which includes:

  • Being a part of a 12-month program, whereby you will gain work experience in the Family Carer-led Centres.
  • Utilise your personal lived or living experience of supporting a person with mental illness, including people with co-occurring substance use or addiction, to support family members, carers and supporters of the Family and Carer-led services.
  • Receive on-going support and coaching from our Senior Family Peer Workers
  • Receive a comprehensive and engaging on-boarding experience
  • Receive on-the-job training, feedback and on-going development
