The station is located 1.5 hours from both Tibooburra and Wanaaring and 2.5 hours from Bourke, along the Hamilton Gate Road.
About the Role
We're seeking a capable Station Manager Couple to oversee the day-to-day running of a well-established pastoral station. The role will suit a couple with broad livestock and property experience who thrive on working together and are comfortable living remotely. You'll report directly to the managing partner and have input into strategic decisions and improvements as the station works towards modernisation.
- The Station Manager will lead operations including livestock (goat and cattle) management, team leadership, infrastructure projects, and general station oversight.
- The Partner will support across all areas - including stores, domestic tasks, occasional administration, cooking, and general help around the station.
Key Responsibilities
Station Manager
- Oversee day-to-day station operations
- Lead a small, capable team and supervise contractors
- Manage stock work, herd health, and seasonal planning
- Handle property improvements, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades
- Maintain compliance and safety procedures
- Order fuel, stores, and other supplies
- Submit timesheets and contractor invoices to head office
Station Support (Partner)
- Assist with stores and basic station administration
- Help with domestic duties, mustering, and other ad hoc tasks
- Preparing weekday meals for one staff member and occasional seasonal workers
- Be a positive presence on station, supporting the team as needed
About You
- Proven experience managing or co-managing a livestock property (ideally goats and/or cattle)
- Hands-on and practical with strong common sense
- Confident people leader with mentoring ability
- Comfortable working to a budget and handling light administration
- Remote area experience essential - you understand what's involved in remote living
- A current driver's licence
