Who are we looking for?
We are inviting applications from Mid-level Tailings Engineers to join our market-leading Brisbane-based South Queensland Tailings and Mine Waste Group. This well-regarded Team is known for their deep technical expertise and holistic approach to tailings management.
Our team contributes to some of the most complex and high-profile tailings projects across Australia and internationally, offering you the chance to grow your expertise and make a meaningful impact. In this exciting role you’ll be supported by experienced mentors and have access to tailored development pathways to help you grow your career.
Working with a flexible, welcoming and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you:
- Deliver tailings storage facility and geotechnical designs under guidance from senior engineers.
- Assist in scoping and managing geotechnical investigations.
- Support construction certification and field engineering activities.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across planning, feasibility, design, and closure phases.
- Participate in surveillance inspections and risk assessments.
What you will bring to the team:
- Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, with RPEQ or CPEng (or ability to obtain in short order).
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in tailings engineering.
- Exposure to all project phases—from planning and approvals to operation and closure.
- Familiarity with design and documentation tools such as GeoStudio and Muk3D.
- Strong technical writing skills, particularly for proposals and reports.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical investigation results and apply them to design.
- Understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality standards.
- Willingness to learn how to analyse tailings storage facilities under static and dynamic loads.
- Current driver’s licence.
