Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals for the motel’s restaurant, bar, coffee shop, and conference catering. This role ensures high-quality food production, compliance with food safety standards, and efficient kitchen operations to meet the needs of guests, events, and day-to-day service.


Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:

Prepare, season, and cook meals according to the menu and guest requirements.
Assist in menu planning, including daily specials and event catering menus.
Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation for restaurant, coffee shop, and bar service.
Prepare catering for conferences, meetings, and special events held on-site.
Accommodate special dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, etc.) when required.
Kitchen Operations:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage, and preparation areas.
Monitor stock levels, assist in ordering, and minimize food waste.
Ensure correct storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients to meet food safety standards.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
Compliance & Safety:

Follow HACCP, food hygiene, and occupational health and safety standards.
Assist in maintaining kitchen records, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
Support internal audits and compliance checks as required.
Team Collaboration:

Work with chefs, kitchen hands, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Coordinate with the restaurant, bar, and coffee shop teams for meal timing and service delivery.
Support training of junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive kitchen environment.

Skills & Qualifications:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment.
Knowledge of diverse cuisines and ability to work with various cooking techniques.
Understanding of dietary requirements and allergen management.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


Employment Details:
Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours per week).
Location: 10 First Street Katherine NT 0850
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
Reporting To: Head Chef / Business Owner / Restaurant Manager
