The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Emergency Management & Coordination Command ( EMCC) Supports locally Led and safe, Resilient communities throughout Queensland. The Command is focused on enhancing whole of government capability and delivering state level support to disaster operations based on the requirements of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA).Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the public information and warnings function to support disaster events, including participating in strategic planning, quality assurance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and issue warnings and other critical public information during disaster operations and provide support and guidance to local and district levels to ensure a consistent approach to deliver public information and warnings.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of policy and procedures, systems and processes, and communication strategies in the delivery of public information and warnings.
- Prepare briefs, reports, correspondence, and submissions relating to public information and warnings in accordance with requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external disaster management stakeholders to support the public information and warning's function.
- Promote and support a teamwork approach to the achievement of outcomes and ensure the effective delivery of services in an efficient and timely manner.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
- Knowledge, experience, or qualifications in public information and warnings, and/or disaster management will be highly regarded.
- Capacity to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster and support operational duties during emergency and disaster operations. Capacity to support operational duties during disaster events. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the State.
