Your role within Social and Affordable Housing Growth will support the department to lead the delivery of housing outcomes in partnership with community housing, industry and development partners to increase social and affordable housing supply. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.

You will lead and manage a diverse team responsible for contract management of various social and affordable housing projects, and ensure compliance with contractual and program obligations, as well as effective stakeholder relationship management, and corporate reporting and performance monitoring.

Your team will directly contribute towards the delivery of the Queensland Government's commitment of 53,500 new social homes by 2044.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage a small team responsible for the contract and project management of a program of capital projects, and actively use critical thinking and good judgement to resolve contractual issues in accordance with contractual, program and funding obligations.
  • Provide professional, authoritative and timely policy and legislative advice on housing and homelessness contractual issues and to inform policy, program and project development.
  • Undertake rigorous and complex contract management reviews, contract and financial closures, performance monitoring, and analysis compliance to inform effective management frameworks in line with department requirements.
  • Plan and lead team activities to operative in a consistent, structured and collaborative way, ensuring partner relationships are maintained and program or funding outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide exceptional leadership, build resilience and work collaboratively across multi-functional teams and data areas while managing uncertainty and change.
  • Prepare high-quality, professional and evidence-based written materials and communications about strategic housing and homelessness policy, legislation and reform, including briefs, cabinet submissions, legislative development and support materials, consultation papers, regulatory impact statements, presentations and speeches.
  • Manage and develop staff to deliver a work program and ensuring staff have the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to meet their performance expectations and professional development goals.
  • Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.


Mandatory Requirement

There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, sound knowledge, skills or experience of social policies, programs and contractual arrangements including legislative processes is highly desirable.
