As Our Senior Policy Officer, You Will- Build and draw on your knowledge and experience (agricultural knowledge an advantage) to deliver agricultural industry development projects and support agricultural trade and investment events that deliver on policy objectives.
- Develop well rounded, evidence-based policy responses taking into account research and analysis from internal and external sources, the diverse interests of stakeholders and considerations of whole-of-government approach.
- Engage and consult with key stakeholders to identify emerging issues and develop solutions that support sound policy decisions and approaches.
- Build, maintain and enhance effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective interface between anticipated organisational goals, policy development, planning and policy implementation review processes.
As our Senior Policy Officer, you will:
- Support the development, coordination and presentation of analysis, options and recommendations on a broad range of agricultural policy issues and provide advice as required.
- Build and draw on your knowledge and experience (agricultural knowledge an advantage) to deliver agricultural industry development projects and support agricultural trade and investment events that deliver on policy objectives.
- Develop well rounded, evidence-based policy responses taking into account data, research and analysis from internal and external sources, the diverse interests of stakeholders and considerations of whole-of-government approach.
- Engage and consult with key stakeholders to identify emerging issues impacting agricultural sectors and develop solutions that support sound policy decisions and approaches.
- Prepare high quality written documentation such as briefing notes, submissions, discussion papers, correspondence and reports.
- Build, maintain and enhance effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective interface between anticipated organisational goals, policy development, trade and investment activities and industry development projects.
- Represent the unit or the department in a range of forums including interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings as required, including trade delegations and policy working groups.
- Actively participate and contribute to related project activities that support the achievement of organisational goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other policy officers within the business unit as required.
- Undertake other activities of the business unit as directed.
- High level analytic, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively provide authoritative advice using effective oral and written communication skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
