Your Opportunity
As the Communications Officer you will be responsible for managing internal and external communication requirements for TAFE Queensland.
This position reports to the Manager Marketing and Sales within the Marketing and Sales Team.
This is a Temporary , Full-Time opportunity, to 05/01/2027 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at our Nambour campus, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, write, edit and review high quality written content for internal communications, external communications, website and blog, social, nurture, and campaign in line with written style guide and digital tone of voice for brand.
- Support the Manager Marketing and Sales in managing the internal communication function and advise other business areas concerning employee engagement and change management communication.
- Act as an advisor and editor, while working closely with business areas and subject matter experts, to deliver client-centred and integrated blog content, nurture, project materials, internal communications and external communications.
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to an annual internal communications calendar.
- Develop well structured, accurate and styled online content, project materials, internal communications and external communications that demonstrates adherence to approved guidelines, legal and regulatory guidelines as well as usability principles.
- Work within appropriate management processes, standards and associated technical documentation as required.
- Work with stakeholders to outline objectives, requirements and milestones, and set mutual responsibilities in activity including developing and implementing Communications Plans, project materials, internal communications, and blogs, nurture and external communications.
- Complete multiple requests, project work and stakeholder enquiries in a timely manner while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
- Create and project manage Strategic Communication Plans for internal communications activities.
- Act as a media liaison, leveraging reports from NCVER or current VET-related news by working closely with the research team to promote and position TAFE Queensland’s brand in the market.
- Support social media requirements as required, supporting the marketing team as required.
- Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Showing Initiative, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer and Taking Responsibility.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Demonstrated marketing and communication experience, including a proactive and commercial approach to managing marketing and communication activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, priority management and organisational skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and negotiate outcomes with senior management and external suppliers.
- Experience in the development and carriage of communication strategies that support strategic priorities.
- Extensive knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training sector, including TAFE Queensland operations and external factors impacting the organisation, and the ability to differentiate issues.
- Ability to rapidly adopt new digital platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project/outcomes with tight and often conflicting timelines in a complex environment.
- Superior communication skills and a demonstrated ability in building good internal working relationships.
- Strong understanding of the VET sector and TAFE Queensland as a business.
- A BA Degree in Marketing, Journalism or Communications.
