The Local Government Division plays an important role in empowering councils to deliver on their local priorities. This is your opportunity to lead and manage the Grant Management and Commissions team who are responsible for the administration of grants programs to local governments across Queensland. The team collaborates closely with all levels of government in Australia, supports the independent Queensland Local Government Grants Commission and the Local Government Remuneration Commission and has a key role in supporting the Queensland Government continuing to enable better local outcomes.The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV) is at the forefront of driving sustainable growth across Queensland. The Role
As the Manager of the Grants and Program Management team, you will manage the team responsible for leading the administration of Local Government Division's grants to local governments. Your team works closely with business units across Local Government Division, the Department and Queensland and Australian Governments and plays a key role in supporting Local Government Division's engagement with Queensland councils.
Key Duties And Accountabilities
- Build a team culture which supports the departmental values and foster an environment of strong teamwork, open communication, leadership and innovation.
- Manage the design, implementation, delivery and performance monitoring of Local Government Division's grant programs.
- Provide expert advice to Local Government Division and councils about strategic and operational grant management matters, including grant management processes, policies and procedures, project assessments and project/program performance.
- Oversee the management of Local Government Division's grant management system and associated reporting, including focus on streamlining the reporting process.
- Drive the use of data and performance information to support client service delivery to local governments and other key stakeholders and to ensure continual improvement in funding outcomes.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including keeping management informed.
- Prepare timely and well-researched briefings, reports, submissions and correspondence, including reports and briefing notes for the Minister, Director-General and Deputy Director-General.
- Collaborate across Local Government Division, the department, State agencies and councils to drive continuous improvement in grant management outcomes and processes.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Highly organised to manage competing priorities and delivery quality outcomes.
- Experience working with or within the local government sector and grant management would be highly regarded.
