Are you an experienced communications professional looking for an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to Queensland Treasury's objectives and the state's priorities? You will play a key role in developing and delivering communication, media, and engagement projects that enhance Treasury's reputation and outcomes.

This role is a rewarding opportunity to work on government initiatives, support senior leaders, and bring innovative solutions to complex communication challenges.

In This Role, You Will

  • Develop communication, engagement and media strategies as well as a range of high quality, contemporary information materials to support departmental initiatives and programs
  • Provide strategic risk, issues and crisis management advice to departmental and ministerial staff, and identify proactive media opportunities.
  • Prepare proactive and reactive media releases for both traditional and social media, and manage the timely resolution of media enquiries
  • Deliver department events (e.g. town halls, stakeholder engagement) and coordinate participation in external public events (e.g. post Budget) and community engagement forums across the State
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders within the team and department on communication, engagement and media projects, issues and opportunities
  • Deliver effective metrics, evaluation and reporting on projects to inform current and future communication, engagement and media activities.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships within the branch, department, other government agencies, external stakeholders and suppliers
  • Maintain a flexible approach to your work and carry out special projects as required, including support for deadline-driven activities such as the State Budget, Mid-year Fiscal and Economic Review (MYFER) and crisis communication responses
  • Contribute to a positive work culture and ‘one-team' approach, providing leadership, guidance and support across the branch.


What Experience You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex communication, engagement, and media strategies and associated projects within timeframes and budgets
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, including expertise in creating high-standard content such as speeches, media releases, advertising copy, newsletters, video scripts, and online/social media content
  • Proven track record of working in a high-paced communications environment, contributing effectively to a fast-moving and high-performing team
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to address and resolve communication challenges effectively.


Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
