QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.

About The Role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional coordination of the delivery of capital works across a range of building programs.

Duties And Skills Involved

This position will be responsible for managing projects centrally across the state and will focus on ensuring the services provided are customer orientated and meet expectations including time, cost and quality parameters and represent value for money. This includes the coordination of human and financial resources to ensure maintenance and construction projects and programs are delivered in an effect and efficient manner.

This position is solely responsible for all Project Manager duties primarily associated with a with a five (5) year statewide program of projects consisting of multiple sites. The projects are aimed at delivering upgraded electronic security works to multiple integrated systems from head ends to end devices including but not limited to Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Video Management Systems (VMS) Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and Building management System (BMS).

What You Will Be Doing

  • Ensuring activities are implemented effectively, managed, and coordinated for the delivery of capital works across a range of programs. Manage relationships and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective delivery and profitability of capital works building programs.
  • Successfully delivering capital works building program and project activity through the effective planning and utilisation of internal and external resources, and the use of sophisticated financial, risk management and reporting principles and techniques.
  • Managing, mentoring, leading and monitoring the activities and performance of the Project Management team.
  • Develop and maintain project management plans, risk registers and monthly standard reporting processes and procedures
  • Supporting the activities of the Director Capital Works in achieving the Department's commitments including outputs of time, cost, and quality across major capital works programs.
  • Leading the investigation and make recommendations of alternative construction solutions to facilitate continuous improvement to contract documentation and delivery models for improved outcomes. This will include working with consultants.
  • Be a champion of change and ensuring effective working relationships through continuous development and encouragement of individual and teams.
  • Establishing and maintaining senior management relationships with customers and other stakeholders to support improvement and add value to Government.
  • Contributing significantly to the development, implementation and review of the Business Unit's Operational Plan, fee levels, performance indicators and actual services and service levels ensuring that they closely align with the customer's requirements.
  • Ensuring a culture of customer focus, while continuously improving, developing and implementing any necessary systems and processes that monitor and optimise productivity.
  • Proactively managing the onboarding, work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
  • Travel to various sites around QLD may be required.
